🎨Creating Automations

Creating a trading automation (or a strategy) on Pluto is a simple and intuitive process. This guide will walk you through the process, step-by-step.

  1. Log in to your Pluto account and navigate to your dashboard.

  2. Click on the "Automations" tab on the left-hand side of your screen.

Setting Up Your Strategy

  1. On the Automations page, click on the "Create Strategy" button.

  2. Name your strategy. This name will help you identify it later in your portfolio and notifications.

  3. Click on the 'Add Section' button to create the first section of your strategy.

Creating a Section

Each section consists of a set of triggers and actions, along with a match type.

Setting up Triggers:

  1. Click on 'Add Trigger' inside the section.

  2. Select a trigger type from the dropdown menu. You can choose from a variety of real-time data types such as Price, Volume, RSI, MA Pair, Bollinger Bands, Active Pattern, Earnings, Time of Day, and Custom.

  3. Customize your trigger. For example, if you chose 'Price' as the trigger type, you can set the trigger as "If AAPL's price goes above $150."

  4. Optionally, add a clause to modify the condition. For example, "for at least an hour," "once over the last year," or "as of 10 days ago."

Setting up Actions:

  1. Click on 'Add Action' inside the section.

  2. Choose an action type: Buy, Sell, Short, or Cover.

  3. Customize the action. For example, "Buy 10 shares of AAPL."

Setting the Match Type:

  1. Select a match type for the section: "all," "some," "none," or "at least" (N triggers or N weight). This determines how the triggers in the section are evaluated.

Selecting Assets

  1. Click on the 'Assets' tab.

  2. Select the individual assets for your strategy. If you're unsure, Pluto can automatically select these for you.

Setting up Shields

  1. Click on the 'Shields' tab.

  2. Set up shields as risk controls for your strategy. For example, "If a trade is down 2% then sell the position and stop trading that asset for a week". You can either freeze and/or flatten. If you're unsure, Pluto can suggest shields for you.

Testing and Activating Your Strategy

  1. Once your strategy is set up, ask Pluto to test it. Optionally, provide dates for the test.

  2. Review the test results. If you're satisfied with the performance, you can activate the strategy.

  3. Click the "Add to Portfolio" button in the top right, choose a portfolio (sandbox/live), and set how much you want to invest. If you're on the chat page, you can click the "Add to Portfolio" button directly in the chat where Plato attached the strategy.

And there you have it! You've set up your first trading automation on Pluto. Remember, you can always edit your strategy if you need to make adjustments. Happy trading!
